Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into electricity using wind turbines. Plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, and clean wind power reduces greenhouse gas emissions when it displaces fossil fuel-derived electricity. Typically, on-grid wind turbines are installed at homes or businesses to generate power; at times where there is insufficient wind, these locations can tap into the grid of the local utility company. Surplus electricity is sent back into the grid and the homeowner or business owner is compensated. Rural or remote areas are commonly off-grid and can use battery back-up to provide electricity when there is no wind.
Honeywell's revolutionary gearless wind turbine can provide up to 25% of a typical household's electricity needs, producing up to 2572 kW in optimum conditions, and operates even in low wind speeds. Because the Honeywell can generate power with wind speeds as little as 2 MPH and can generate power in winds up to 42 MPH, it is the choice of the future!
